For Megan Sullivan, 2014 was a tough year. In November, she fell while rock climbing in Yosemite National Park. Three days after that, she was struck by a car while riding her Vespa. A week after that, she was diagnosed with skin cancer.
If that sounds like enough to make you curl into a ball and cry, then you”re not Sullivan. In light of these struggles, she decided that it was the perfect time to tackle one of her life goals once and for all: traveling around the world. If not now, when?
This was Sullivan”s itinerary. The trip took 13 days of nonstop travel.
As those of you who travel know, a companion can make or break a voyage. Sullivan decided to go with her very new boyfriend, Chris McNamara. Prior to this, Sullivan considered traveling alone, but decided to take McNamara along. The relationship was “still new, so those annoyances that really start to get on your nerves in six months are still relatively adorable,” she explained on her website. “Added bonus 13 days of nonstop travel equates to about five months of that awkward period when you are trying to decipher if this guy is the real thing or a psycho.”
There are some newly designated world wonders out there, and she was determined to see them all. With only three hours of planning, they were off.
Day 1: Chichen Itza, Mexico
Day 2 : Macchu Picchu, Peru
Day 4: Cristo Redentor, Brazil
Sullivan documented her whirlwind trip on Instagram. Along the way, she snapped photos of the new Seven Wonders, or the sites being referred to as such on the New7Wonders website. (If you”re wondering why we need new ones, it”s because the Pyramids of Giza are the only surviving old ones.)
In all, Sullivan and McNamara managed to circumnavigate the globe in just 13 days, and they hit all their target destinations. Eat your heart out, Jules Verne.
Day 6: Colosseum, Italy
Day 8: Petra, Jordan
Day 11: Taj Mahal, India
Day 12: Great Wall, China
Day 13: Yosemite Valley, United States

So how are Sullivan and McNamara doing now that they”re back? She”s happy to report that the relationship is “stronger than ever,” and that the pair are looking forward to more traveling. In fact, they recently spent a four-day weekend in Istanbul, Rome, and Amsterdam.
