If there’s one thing Harry Potter fans love — aside from the franchise itself, of course — it’s memorabilia.
From wands to stuffed versions of Hedwig, you’d be hard-pressed to find a Rowling superfan who doesn’t have a secret stash of collectibles. And if you’re one of those dedicated fans, you probably remember the Weasleys’ clock in the film adaptation of “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” right?
Well, someone just brought that clock to life! It isn’t powered by magic or anything, but once you see the finished product, you’ll be convinced that this clever crafter is a wizard!
Gorgeous, isn’t it? Before diving in, Redditor relmicro gathered up everything he’d need to create a spot-on replica.
First, he purchased this clock stand on eBay for $45.
He then drilled holes in the back to accommodate the power cord and provide a bit of ventilation.
Foam padding had to be inserted after that to ensure that none of the hardware moved around inside.
Next, he pulled the power cord in through a hole toward the bottom of the stand.
After that, the DIY wizard placed a Kindle Fire inside. It fit perfectly!
For the display, he created this clock face with a little help from Photoshop.
By setting that image as the Kindle’s background and linking time, weather, and social media apps, he managed to create this insanely convincing Weasley clock that also happens to be fully functional!
Any superfan would lose it if they got their hands on one of these.
I’m no programmer, so I’m not sure if I could link all of those programs by myself, but if you’re a computer genius with a serious love for J.K. Rowling’s many wizards, you should give it a try!
